TAKE CONTROL PROGRAM
SRF holds week-long life skills camp for our players with a unique curriculum that allows players to learn about life skills (self, others, and decision making) in an interactive, field-based setting. Participants are exposed to topics such as self-awareness, self-esteem, and managing stress and emotions, how to maintain good relationships, build trust, resolve conflict, and the process of decision making and problem-solving. Teaching students how to build resilience and practice skills allows them to begin to change how they think and see themselves; they can begin to apply themselves in a more prosocial, proactive way. This program has had over 1500 participants within a period of 3 years.
SECONDARY SCHOOL PROGRAM
SRF aims to retain players from the primary school program and continue to provide them with skills and guidance through their secondary school years. The goal is to prepare beneficiaries as early as possible for life after high school. Secondary school students who are active players with the SRF senior teams, on SRF scholarships, or who meet other selection criteria are considered for this program. Topics that are addressed include: leadership, self-worth, decision making, problem-solving, career guidance, communication and writing skills, CV writing, sexual responsibility, and male/female empowerment. Camps and workshops are placed throughout the year to maintain contact with students and allow for ongoing mentorship and counselling.
POST-SECONDARY SCHOOL PROGRAM
Players that have finished secondary school are engaged to participate in work-based programs that prepare them to enter the workforce. SRF has partnered with local companies to provide our players with internship, traineeship and part-time or full-time employment opportunities. This program exposes and introduces our players to the dynamic environment of the job market
COUNSELING PROGRAM
In all the programs in SRF, players have access to professional counseling services. Counseling began in 2016 and has since been embedded in all our programming. SRF engages a team of counselors specializing in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, HIV/AIDS counseling, community development, and child psychology to attend to the children and so far we have 200 players engaged.
